RMS Reminder - if you have been coming to get meals, or if you signed up on the survey, today is ā€œMeals on Mondaysā€. Please come before noon to pick up your meals for the week!

Beginning April 13th, we will be distributing weekly meals on Mondays only from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. At that time, you may pick up 5 breakfast and 5 lunches for each child in the household that is 18 and under. We feel this will benefit our families with time, mileage and exposure. Items will be packed so that some assembly may be required. E.g. meat, cheese, and bread will be packaged separately in order to maintain optimum freshness during the week. Parents or designated persons are now able to pick up meals and children do not have to be present. This program is for ALL children 18 and under. This works the same as the daily school lunch program. It is not an issue of whether you have enough food in your house or not. You taking a meal, does not take away from another child. This is a program to HELP each of our families. If you want to order meals for your children, fill out one survey per household. This will assist us in ordering and preparing an adequate amount of meals. Thank you! Survey link: https://bit.ly/RMSweeklymealsurvey

Distance Learning Day 1........ Packet pickup went great! Shoutout to all parents and students who brought smiles, encouraging words, and air hugs as you came through the line! You are the best!!! Remember, this is not the way any of us expected to complete the year. Donā€™t stress over the transition. We are all learning this together. Parents, keep reassuring and encouraging your children. Unconditional love, support, and kindness to others are some of the best lessons they can learn. Not all important lessons are taught through textbooks and the within the walls of a school. Rocky Mountain teachers and staff have poured thought, love and prayers into your packets. I know you appreciate them as much as I do. Teachers will be contacting families from time to time. If you have any questions, please reach out to them or me. We are here for you and happy to help. PS - I suppose all went well today with student behavior. I had zero distress calls needing to send anyone to the superintendentā€™s office. šŸ˜Š Have a great week! šŸ’™

RMS Parents - This past week has been a whirlwind of information and emotions for all of us. I want to encourage you to remain positive during this trying time. Your childrenā€™s teachers and I have been conducting virtual meetings in order to have a plan that is the least stressful route for you, your children, and for us. We will be giving additional information and instructions in the next few days. We have been given an additional waiver with the food program. Parents are now able to pick up meals and children do not have to be present. We love seeing the kids and hope they still come through from time to time, but you donā€™t have to bring them for them to receive a meal. Please understand, this program is for ALL children 18 and under. This works the same as the daily school lunch program. It is not an issue of whether you have enough food in your house or not. You taking a meal, does not take away from another child. This is a program to HELP each of our families. As always, if you have any questions or need help with contacting resources, please call or text my cell 918-797-0318. We are here to help. Much love, Alicia Ketcher

RMS staff and parents... As of today, the state board voted that we will all complete this school year through distance learning. I assure you that as Rocky Mountain transitions to distance learning, we will make decisions based upon what is the best for our population of students. We will be developing a plan in order to move forward so that each student receives educational services these last weeks of school. The term distance learning is going to look different in different schools. It is our responsibility to respond with the resources that our families have in place and the supports that we can provide with those resources. As we work with the State Department of Education, professional organizations and each other, we will keep you informed concerning various information and procedures. All of us are entering uncharted waters. Many of you have questions and I will be the first to tell you we donā€™t have all the answers. This is a situation that will change and evolve as we go. What I do know is we are all blessed to live in and be a part of the Rocky Mountain family. Families stand strong. Families stand united. Through the cooperation of everyone, we will come out on the other side. We will be stronger and better people as we support each other within the Rocky Mountain community. Be kind, be patient. The world can use a lot of that right now.

RMS parents......(shortened version of the call) 1. As you know, school is closed for the next 2 weeks. I , along with a few staff volunteers, will be at school each day from 8-1. There will be very limited staff. If you call and donā€™t receive an answer, please call again. Or, as always, you may call or text me at 918-797-0318. 2. Things for your kids to do the next 2 weeks.....read, do some math, work on math facts, write about their day, play outside, utilize free on- line tutorials, websites and apps 3. Free grab and go meals each day from 10-12. Please bring your kids. We are working through the state and get reimbursed just like a normal school day. We will be taking precautions to make sure families and staff volunteers remain safe during this process. Students must be in the car during pick up. Students receiving delivery must be visible at the door once we arrive.

In order to be in compliance with CDC guidelines, the Rocky Mountain School Fitness Center will be closed until further notice. Physical exercise is important to a healthy lifestyle. Please feel free to continue using our outdoor track, while following the social distancing protocols. Thank you for your understanding.

RMS will be serving free ā€œgrab and goā€ meals to any student age 18 and under beginning March 23rd. Meals will be served at school through the bus parking lane or if you live in our district and need delivery, we can do so through arrangements. Serving time will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, Monday through Friday of each week. Students will receive both breakfast and lunch. Students must be in the vehicle at time of pick up or at home at time of delivery. In order to better serve you, we are asking you to complete an online survey posted on our website, Facebook or at the end of this message. This is basic information that helps us to plan in this process. If you live closer to one of the other schools that are having meal distribution, you may pick up there instead. This is a state-wide effort to make sure students have the necessary food during this time of hardship. If you do not have internet and cannot access the survey link, please call or text me at 918-797-0318. Completing this survey is not a requirement in order to receive a meal. It will simply assist us in better serving you. I hope each of you are staying safe and healthy. http://bit.ly/33xyNLp
